The Peoria Rivermen’s game Fri. is being postponed, due to the opposing team’s bus crashing in Morton Thurs., which resulted in players and staff being taken to area hospitals.

The Columbus Cottonmouths, of Georgia, were headed to Peoria when the bus rolled over as it missed the curve in the I-74 exit ramp.

The team spokesperson says no one sustained life-threatening injuries, and the goaltender is the only player still being treated in the hospital.

In a news release, the Cottonmouths thanked fans, the Peoria Rivermen, first responders and medical professionals "that kept our team in great spirits and treated them with the most professional care."

Saturday's matchup against the Rivermen at the Carver Arena will still go on as scheduled. Cottonmouths Coach Jerome Bechard says the team’s former goalie is traveling to Peoria, but he "may or may not play."

Peoria Rivermen spokesman Brad Kupiec says fans holding tickets to Friday’s game can exchange them for an upper bowl ticket to Saturday's contest or for a seat to any other regular season home game in 2017. That includes the to-be-announced make-up matchup against the Cottonmouths.
