Peoria Police Warn Of Area Phone Scam

The Peoria Police Department is warning of a reported scam in the area.  The scammer leaves voicemails claiming to be a US Marshal, and saying the resident has warrants out for their arrest.  When the resident calls a given number, the scammer then says the warrants go away if they receive a $500 payment.  Police say they will never call residents to inform them of a warrant.  Residents can always check the Peoria County Website to verify active warrants in their name.
