OSF Healthcare System and a rehabilitation center in Peoria celebrated their new affiliation Thursday morning. OSF and the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation held a blessing dedication ceremony, and is formally known as OSF IPMR. Sister Mikela Meidl is the executive vice president of OSF HealthCare. She says IPMR’s rehab programs fit well with OSF’s focus:
“OSF HealthCare also has pediatric rehab. So this allows us to be in broader geographies, to create standardizations for best practice.”
Meidl says the merger is consistent with the growing shift in healthcare that looks to integrate more health services. IPMR is also creating mobile apps and wireless technology to help deliver care over long-distances.
