More changes ahead for Methodist/Proctor

The head of UnityPoint Health Methodist-Proctor says the two hospitals are a couple of months away from finishing up the vision for the affiliation.

The two medical centers received state approval to merge last year. Since then, an integration team of executives and physicians have been working on a plan that best optimizes their resources to better serve area residents.

Debbie Simon is the President and CEO of Methodist-Proctor. She says the Proctor campus could see some physical changes as part of future planning.

“Some of that will be inside. We will be upgrading some things or re-modifying things as we decide which services…And certainly the campus itself, one thing downtown doesn’t have much of, in terms of the hospitals, is land. When you look out at Proctor, there’s land out there."

As for the Methodist campus, Simon says the hospital is looking to add new services as well as expand its physician network.

Methodist is also planning to tear down the parking deck on Hamilton Boulevard between Globe Street and Glen Oak Avenue. The project is part of an ongoing Campus Enhancement Project. A new surface parking lot will be built in the deck’s place in 2015.
