Proctor merging with UnityPoint Health-Methodist

Proctor Hospital is preparing to merge its operations with Unity Point Health-Methodist to form one health system. The two groups Monday signed an affiliation agreement. Under the agreement, the Methodist Health Services Corporation will become the sole corporate member of Proctor Health Care Incorporated.

Methodist will continue as a senior affiliate of UnityPoint Health. The agreement covers all of the operations of Proctor.  That includes the physicians employed by the hospital, its clinic sites and other services, such as the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery and the Hult Center for Healthy Living. The hospital will now be called UnityPoint-Proctor. The President and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Methodist, Debbie Simon will carry that title for the combined entity.

The merger follows a failed set of contract talks between OSF Health System and Proctor. The agreement between Methodist and Proctor is subject to approval by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board. The affiliation could be complete by the end of the year.
