3-year-old Peoria boy drowned in the Illinois River

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says an autopsy has determined a 3-year-old boy drowned in the Illinois River.  The body of Ravante L. Ward was found Friday in the river in Peoria. Ingersoll says the boy was one of eight children brought from a daycare center to a riverside recreation center for a day trip.  Ingersoll says the investigation into the child's death is continuing, and a coroner's inquest will be scheduled. Peoria Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson says officers were called to the area after adults who noticed the boy was missing found him in the water.  The river is still well above flood stage. The Peoria Park District, owns the Riverplex. Park District officials say one of its lifeguards performed CPR on the boy.
