The City of Peoria is temporarily halting storm recovery efforts so staff can tackle looming flood waters from the Illinois River. City Public Works Director Mike Rogers says staff have received more than 500 service requests for tree limb removal and other issues from recent storms:
“And we intend to address each and every one of those, it’s just that we have to pull off of that, but we will get back to it.”
Rogers says it will take staff about 24 hours to lay sandbags on select portions along the river. The river is expected to exceed the retaining wall later this week.
