The Peoria Don’t Shoot initiative held a call-in Monday for violent offenders with felony records. Krista Coleman is the Community Service Coordinator for Don’t Shoot. She says that’s different from previous call-in events:
“This is actually more of an opportunity than prior because you don’t have the take the message back. This is directly to you.”
13 men heard from law enforcement and community members to put down their guns or face tough prosecution. They were also told about drug and alcohol treatment and tattoo removal services to help them turn away from a violent lifestyle.
