Gov. Quinn announces more money for Washington

The city of Washington is again getting some financial help from the state as it recovers from last year’s devastating tornadoes. Governor Pat Quinn announced the city will receive five million dollars to improve its wastewater systems.

The state previously awarded Washington about eight million dollars to help it recoup some of the costs associated with storm cleanup.

The additional money will ensure the city’s sanitary systems can handle the community’s needs. The wastewater treatment project is part of Governor Quinn’s 31-billion dollars Illinois Jobs Now! Program.
