More than 200 area veterans turned out at the Peoria Civic Center today for the Hiring our Heroes job fair. The event was put on by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. It’s a nationwide program that helps veterans, military spouses and transitioning service members find employment.
More than 65 employers participated in the event. The fair includes a workshop on resume writing, interview skills and job search techniques.
The Hiring our Heroes program’s held more than 750 job fairs nationwide, resulting in more than 24-thousand jobs for veterans and military spouses.
Caterpillar, CEFCU, ADM, Federal Companies, Menold Construction and the Peoria Police Department were some of the employers represented at the Peoria veteran’s job fair.
