Groups work to make Sheridan and Main more walkable

Some area organizations are giving the intersection of Main and Sheridan a temporary makeover this weekend.

The Whiskey City Collaborative along with the Renaissance Park Community Association, Arts Partners of Central Illinois and others are hosting what’s called the Better Block event.

The one-day demonstration aims to re-design the area and take over empty store fronts to create a more pedestrian friendly environment. The goal is to show residents what the busy intersection could become with community buy-in. Peoria Public Radio’s Denise Molina spoke with Anthony Corso who’s part of the effort.

The Better Block event is taking place Saturday from 10 to 6 at the intersection of Main and Sheridan. The event is free and open to the public.
