100 year-old water main system replacement in Peoria

Illinois American Water is spending more than $1 million on water main improvements in Peoria. The company will install new water main that replaces the more than 100 year-old cast iron connection that feeds into the stations on Grand Boulevard.
Officials say the project will make the system more reliable during extreme temperatures. The replacement is going on this month and likely won't impact customer water service directly. But officials say the work could increase the chance of water main breaks in other areas due to pressure changes during the install.
