Running Central opens in Peoria’s Warehouse District

A well-known retail business opened its doors in Peoria’s Warehouse District Tuesday. Running Central re-located from its Peoria Heights location to 311 Water Street.  The specialty running store originally opened on Main Street in Peoria six years ago, but moved to Peoria Heights in 2011 to expand.  Owner Adam White says the downtown location is ideal for the business:

“Running Central serves a 60-mile radius, and a huge percentage of our business comes from Woodford and Tazewell County. And with the Murray Baker Bridge, the Bob Michel Bridge…this is the best place that we possibly could be,” White says.

White also says he hopes to inspire other business owners to re-locate to the Warehouse District.  He says the new location is three times larger than the Peoria Heights space. White says the new building includes expanded space for yoga classes, a kids shoe area, and showers for women and men.  White says he hopes to add eight more full-time employees in the next year.
