East Peoria considers status quo budget

The East Peoria City Council is considering a status quo budget for next fiscal year. The proposed spending plan makes no changes to staffing levels and city services.

But that also means the city denied requests from various city departments to add up to five new staff positions. City Manager Tom Brimberry says the city needs to conserve funds amid rising salary, pension and healthcare costs for employees. A public hearing and first vote on the East Peoria budget is set for next week. The city’s new fiscal year begins May first.
