Peoria police warn of bank scam text message

The Peoria Police Department is warning of a fake text message scam involving Southside bank.  They say residents may have received a fake text concerning the ‘deactivation’ of their bank accounts.  The bank is automatically shutting down card numbers that appear to be compromised.  But no financial losses have been reported so far.

Police remind residents to never give out banking information if they receive a questionable text, phone call or email.  They say to contact their banks directly with any questions during a possible scam.
