Peoria councilwoman to hold Stop the Violence meeting

A town hall meeting in Peoria this evening is aiming to stop violence and engage people in ways to improve the community. First District Peoria City Councilwoman Denise Moore is holding the meeting. She’s says participants are encouraged to offer solutions at the event. But Moore says those seeking help should also come.

“I hear from folks all the time about what’s going on and they are just at their wits end. They don’t know what to do,” Moore says. “Some have children who might be hard to manage and perhaps need some assistance in understanding how that should be done.”

Councilwoman Moore says she will recognize those in the room offering services in the first half hour of the meeting, so people can sign up on their way out. Some of the agencies planning to be on hand include the Tri-County Urban League, the Boys and Girls Club, the South Side Mission and Common Place. The event begins at six o’clock at Bethel United Methodist Church.
