Regional leaders gathered in Peoria Thursday for the 39th annual Mayor's Leadership Prayer Luncheon. About 500 people attended the event. Mayor Jim Ardis says the annual luncheon allows people of all faith to show unity as a community.

“It’s really important for our community I think to come together especially in light of some of the difficult times we’ve had in the last couple of weeks. I think it’s a very appropriate time. People all across the city really rely a lot on faith in difficult times.”

The city of Peoria has experienced an uptick of violence in the last week with three homicides and multiple shootings.

Gary Maxwell was the keynote speaker at the event. He’s a former Walmart executive and the President of Maxwell Value Chain Supply. Maxwell spoke to people using faith to turn their personal and professional lives from good to great.
