Cat will continue not funding the Boy Scouts

The Caterpillar Foundation will continue to NOT fund the Boys Scouts of America. Spokeswoman Rachael Potts says the company’s foundation is reaffirming the decision it made last July. At the time, the Scouts decided to continue a ban on homosexual members or leaders. That went against Caterpillar’s anti-discrimination policy.

The Scouts recently lifted its ban on openly gay members, but will not consider allowing homosexual adult leaders. Potts says that means the policy still goes against Caterpillar’s  anti-discrimination policy and therefore the Foundation can not fund the Scouts efforts.

The spokesman for the Boy Scouts of America says the organization is disappointed with Cat’s decision, but thanks the company for its previous support.
