A map highlights the new traffic pattern as SW Adams Street between William Kumpf Boulevard and Walnut Street switches to two-way traffic.

The switch covering the block between William Kumpf Boulevard and Walnut Street goes into effect at 10 a.m. Drivers are cautioned to be alert to the new traffic pattern and watch for oncoming vehicles in both directions, as well as new pavement markings and signage.

The new configuration will allow left turns from Kumpf onto southbound Adams from the traffic signal at the base of the Bob Michel Bridge, and right turns from eastbound Kumpf onto Adams before the bridge.

Northbound Adams heading into downtown from Kumpf remains one-way for now, with the complete changeover expected in the coming weeks. Drivers should proceed slowly through the area and watch closely for pedestrians as motorists adjust to the new pattern.

The $19 million project returning Adams and Jefferson Avenue to two-way traffic includes new stoplight signals, center left-turn lanes, a bike lane and other improvements.
