Peoria County coroner identifies body of 50-year-old man reported missing in January

Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

The Peoria County Coroner’s Office has identified the body of a 50-year-old man who was reported missing in January.

Coroner Jamie Harwood said he was called to 2709 NE Adams St. in Peoria at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a body found inside the building.

The man, identified Wednesday as Tario Fuller Sr., was last seen on Jan. 3 walking out of Arcadia Care in Peoria Heights. An earlier missing persons report indicated Fuller told staff at the facility he was returning to Chicago.

Harwood said the body had prolonged environmental exposure, which delayed identification, adding his office was able to identify him through “very recognizable tattoos and surgical scars” with the help of his family, medical records and autopsy findings.

Harwood said there were no signs of trauma, and preliminary autopsy results were inconclusive.
