A 63-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by a pickup truck pulling a trailer Friday night in Washington, authorities said.

The incident happened around 5:50 p.m. Friday in the 2300 block of Washington Road between Meadow Lane and Briargate Road, near city limits between East Peoria and Washington.

Laurie Boice, the 63-year-old female pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. Preliminary autopsy findings show the cause of death was from multiple blunt force injuries sustained as a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle, Hanley said.

This case is under investigation by the East Peoria Police Department, Illinois State Police, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the East Peoria Fire Department, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and Washington Police Department.
