The public is invited to provide input in the search for Illinois Central College’s next president.

The college’s board of trustees has hired RH Perry & Associates to lead the search, and consultants will be conducting a pre-search study to gather feedback from students, employees, and other community members.

ICC has scheduled three in-person open focus group sessions for Thursday (at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 2 p.m.), as well as a virtual Zoom meeting. Additionally, the college has set up an on-line survey to gather perspectives toward shaping an “executive search profile.”

Current president Sheila Quirk-Bailey is retiring at the end of December. Bruce Budde will serve as interim president after Quirk-Bailey leaves.

The online survey will remain open through next Tuesday. More information is available on the ICC website.

Enrollment increase

Enrollment at ICC continues to rise, increasing for a sixth consecutive semester.

The college reports more than 8,200 students registered for fall classes, an increase of 2.5% from a year ago. Registered credit hours are up 3% to more than 2,000, while adult student enrollment jumped nearly 11%.

The college credits the growth to meeting community needs, flexible learning options, and an improved enrollment process.

Campus visit days

Prospective students and their families can get a glimpse of campus life during several campus visit days scheduled this fall. The events include opportunities to tour the campus, interact with current students and faculty, and learn about available resources.

Morning session general studies visit days are scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon on Sept. 19 and Nov. 11 on the East Peoria Campus, and during the same hours on Oct. 4 on the Peoria Campus. Evening sessions are set from 4:30-7 p.m. on Sept. 24 and Nov. 4 in East Peoria, and Oct. 22 in Peoria.

ICC also has specialized visit days scheduled in Agricultural and Industrial Technologies, Health Careers, Culinary Arts, and Early College.

Landscape and Garden Day

ICC’s Horticulture program will host the 44th Landscape and Garden Day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the ICC Horticulture Land Lab on the East Peoria Campus.

The theme for the free event is, “STEAM in the Garden: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math,” with visitors able to explore how innovation and gardening intersect.

Along with interactive exhibits, the event features educational seminars, plant sales and other displays from local garden clubs and landscapers.
