A man was killed early Friday morning in a shooting that resulted in a vehicle crash on MacArthur Highway in Peoria.

A Peoria Police Department spokesperson says officers responded to the 300 block of South MacArthur shortly after 2:30 a.m. and discovered the wreck on the west side of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

They found the deceased man in the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. A short time later, police learned a second person from the vehicle arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening.

The deceased victim’s identity and official cause of death will be released later by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

Information on which person was driving the vehicle has not been released yet. Additional details surrounding the incident are expected to be released later Friday.
