A man is dead after being shot in an East Bluff residence Sunday night in Peoria.

According to a Peoria Police Department news release, officers responded to the 300 block of East Arcadia Avenue, shortly before 8 p.m. for a report of a person shot.

They found an adult man inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound.

The Peoria County Coroner's office said Monday that 39-year-old James Miller of East Arcadia Avenue was transported to a local hospital, not breathing and with no pulse. After aggressive resuscitation efforts, Miller was pronounced dead a short time later.

There is no suspect information and the incident remains under investigation.

According to WCBU records, the man’s death is Peoria’s 22nd homicide of 2024.
