Peoria Public Schools District 150 Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmuoulin-Kherat has been selected as one of four finalists for the American Association of School Administrators’ 2025 National Superintendent of the Year.

The nomination comes after Kherat was recognized recently as the Illinois Superintendent of the Year for 2025.

“I am deeply humbled by this recognition, but it is not mine alone,” Kherat said in a media release. “This sort of recognition is a testament to the amazing hard work and dedication of the Board of Education, each staff member, and our community partners.

“Their unwavering support and commitment to our students’ success is the true driving force behind this honor. Together, we will continue to reimagine education that ignites passions and empowers students to be responsible and successful.”

The prestigious national honor recognizes superintendents for demonstrating outstanding leadership, communication skills, professionalism, and community involvement.

The winner of the award will be announced at the AASA National Conference on Education set for March 6-8 in New Orleans.
