Out and About in Greater Peoria: Pioneer Day, live music and a Party in the Park

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Aug. 30- Sept. 1, 2023, curated by WCBU's Camryn Cutinello. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Explore: Travel back to the 1800’s with Wildlife Prairie Park’s Pioneer Day. This event features barrel car rides, live music, an obstacle course, hayrides and an antique tractor parade. Activities start Saturday at 10 a.m. and go to 3 p.m. Admission is free for park members. Non-members have to pay for park admission.

Listen: The Austyn Weston Band plays the Pour Bros. Craft Taproom in Peoria Heights on Saturday. This local band plays country rock at venues across Illinois. The concert goes from 8 to 11 p.m. and is free. Food and drinks will be available.

Play: Head to Chillicothe Sunday for Party in the Park. Hosted at Shore Acres Park, the event celebrates the grand opening of their remodeled, inclusive playground. The party will have a rib cooking competition, car cruise-in, food trucks, inflatables, train rides and a wrestling show. The event goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
