Joshua Gunn is leaving the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce for a new job in Arizona.

Gunn will become the new president and CEO of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. He leaves his leadership position at the Peoria Chamber and CEO Council on May 31.

It's an amicable parting. Gunn called Peoria a gem and "one of our nation's best kept secrets" in a statement Monday.

“The Greater Peoria area has a bright future ahead and I look forward to witnessing the growth and vibrancy to come," he said.

During his time in Peoria, Gunn helped found the RISE Summit for young professionals, and participated in initiatives like the Big Table and the Regional Workforce Alliance.

Andre Allen, the 4th District Peoria City Councilman and Chairman of the of the Greater Peoria Business Alliance Board of Directors, said Gunn's work was invaluable and shaped the region for the better.

“While his departure leaves a void, we’ll strategically unite to support our professional staff and membership, ensuring continuity and building upon the strong foundation laid by Joshua's leadership," Allen said in a statement.

Gunn's worked in Peoria for about four years. He replaced Jeff Griffin, who left for a job in South Dakota after leading the Peoria Chamber for six years.
