Out and About in Greater Peoria: First Friday, Monster Trucks and a Black History Month celebration

First Friday: It's a new month, which means today is First Friday! From the Foster Gallery to the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, studios are open for people to meet with artists and view their work. The Foster Gallery will have music from cello duo ALY and EVAN and North Art Studios will feature music from Sarah Marie Dillard. The Peoria Art Guild will host an opening reception for "Pieces" from Peoria artist Aareon Boyd. There are no entrance fees, but artists will have work for sale so don't forget your wallet!

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks: Tomorrow and Sunday at the Civic Center, the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party brings fans’ favorite Hot Wheels Monster Trucks to life including Mega Wrex, Tiger Shark, Demo Derby, Bone Shaker, Bigfoot, Gunkster and introducing the brand new HW 5-Alarm, the firetruck hero of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks! The Glow Party production features a laser light show, spectacular theatrical effects, dance parties and Hot Wheels toy giveaways. For more information and to buy tickets for the show, click here!

Celebrate Black History: In honor of Black History Month, the George Washington Carver Association is hosting an extraordinary community event Saturday that celebrates the rich history and cultural contributions of African Americans. Through a captivating blend of dance, singing, poetry and music, this event aims to be an immersive experience that pays homage to the vibrant heritage of African American culture. Tickets for the event are $10.
