Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Aug. 25-27, 2023, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.
Learn an Irish jig: This weekend is Irish Fest! Starting tonight at 5 p.m. and running through Sunday evening, the Riverfront will host a wide range of activities and entertainment from Irish culture. There will be tons of live music performances and Irish dancers. Plus, stop by your choice of pubs for food and drink. Participate in dance workshops or sit back and enjoy the show. Single day tickets or weekend pass available.
Make a margarita like a pro: Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., master the art of margarita making with Crafted DIY Studio & Bar's August cocktail class! Learn about muddling, making syrups, balancing flavor and getting the perfect rim on your glass! In this one-of-a kind hands on experience you will make (and drink!) three margaritas. A classic margarita, a muddled fruit with either kiwi or blackberry and a pineapple jalapeno. You’ll leave with some of the syrup you’ll make in class, a book of recipes with room for your own and a packet of house spicy rim seasoning!
Adopt a duck: Tomorrow is the Center for Prevention of Abuse's 35th Annual Duck Race! The race will begin at 1 p.m. at the EastSide Center. Through tomorrow, 35,000 ducks are up for adoption for $5 each and every duck you purchase enters you for a chance to win one of this year's 15 prizes - including the grand prize of $10,000 cash! All funds raised for the Duck Race stay local and help CFPA build a safe and peaceful community.
