Peoria firefighter injured while battling arson fire

A Peoria firefighter suffered minor injuries after falling through the second floor of a vacant home set ablaze early Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 911 W. Third just before 12:45 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene for four hours extinguishing hotspots.

The injured firefighter was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The cause of the fire was determined to be arson. An emergency demolition was ordered.
