One critically injured in Friday night shots fired incident

The Peoria Police Department says one person is critically injured after a shots fired incident Friday, Mar. 18.

According to a press release, officers heard shots around 8:59 p.m. in the 800 block of W. Thrush Avenue, followed by a Shot Spotter alert for 24 rounds fired in the same location. Later, officers were told a vehicle was seen driving down W. Thrush with occupants inside randomly firing, hitting several homes and vehicles. Officers found a discarded handgun during a search of the area.

Police say they later learned a man was dropped off at a local hospital with gunshot wounds, his injuries are critical.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and there's no suspect information available.
