Keisha Alexander's candidacy for the Peoria District 150 school board is officially back on the spring ballot.

Circuit Judge Bruce Fehrenbacher has ruled in favor of Alexander's appeal, overturning a decision by the Peoria County Board of Election Commissioners that struck her name from the ballot.
Fehrenbacher sided with the argument presented by Alexander's attorney Rob Hanauer that the board's ruling went against legal precedence regarding the validity of nominating petitions.
He ruled a notary's clerical error on some nominating petitions was not sufficient grounds to invalidate the signatures on those pages.
Alexander said the judge made the right call.
"I’m excited to be back on the ballot and I’m looking forward to winning the election and bringing a fresh new perspective to the school board," said Alexander in a statement.
"I’m really happy for my mom, we did the work, got all the needed signatures and by law, shouldn’t have been removed for a notary’s clerical error. I’m glad to move forward and get to work winning this election," added Chama St. Louis, Alexander's daughter and campaign manager.
Alexander is opposing current school board president Martha Ross for the school board's District 1 seat in the April 4 election.
