35th annual Peoria Friendship House Stuff-A-Bus food drive is underway

The 35th annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive to benefit Peoria Friendship House is underway in partnership with Kroger to load a vintage City Link bus with up to 11 tons of food.

The donations collected will benefit the Peoria Friendship House food pantry. Since January of this year, the food pantry has provided an average of 450 meals to those dealing with food poverty in Peoria. The food drive began Friday.

To mark the opening of donations, there was a live broadcast to encourage the community to stop by and donate to the drive. There also a performance from the Manual High School drumline.

Donations can be taken to all Peoria Kroger locations and the Kroger store in East Peoria through Nov. 30. The final weight of food collected during the campaign will be announced at a news conference on Nov. 30 at the Peoria Friendship House.

City Link has hosted the Stuff-A-Bus food drive for the past 35 years with Kroger and other sponsors such as Cumulus Radio, WYZZ Fox 43, WMBD CBS 31, CIPROUD.com, and the Amalgamated Transit Union #416.

This year’s drive aims to out-do last year’s collection.
