One dead in Sheridan road hit and run

One person died after an early morning hit and run at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Corrington Avenue on Sunday.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were called to the intersection around 2 a.m. for a man lying in the street unconscious. Police say they found the man on the ground and not breathing, with a bicycle lying nearby. Life saving attempts were not successful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Peoria County Coroner will release additional information on the cause of death and the victim's name and age.
