A shooting Saturday afternoon in Peoria's East Bluff has resulted in the death of one man while two other people are hospitalized.

On Sunday, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the dead man as 18-year-old Jahiem Welch of Peoria. He was pronounced deceased in the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center emergency department shortly after 3 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of N. Central Avenue, just east of the Glen Oak Community Center near the intersection with Frye Avenue.

Peoria police updated details of the incident Saturday night after initially reporting a juvenile had died. The new information indicates two men and a boy were found with gunshot wounds. All three were taken to a local hospital, where one of the men was pronounced dead.

The boy is in critical but stable condition, while the other man is stable. Their ages have not been released.

The victims were located after police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of 10 shots fired. Police continue to investigate the shooting and currently there is no suspect information.

The death marks Peoria's 14th homicide of 2022.
