Coroner identifies Pekin man killed in Peoria motorcycle crash

An ambulance with its lights on. The text "WCBU Police and Fire" is laid on top of that photo.

A Pekin man died Sunday night after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a box truck.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the victim as 38-year-old Richard D. Sally.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Knoxville Avenue and Hickory Grove Road. Harwood said Sally was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Harwood reported that Sally was traveling southbound on Knoxville when he collided with the truck and was thrown from his motorcycle. He then was apparently struck by another motorcycle.

Harwood said Sally suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and likely died instantly. Toxicology tests are pending.
