Two people are in the hospital after a fire broke out just after midnight at the Linn Terrace Apartments in Peoria.

Firefighters responded to 2114 N. Linn St. after a second story apartment unit in the four-story building caught fire. Two people were rescued from the third floor and transported to a local hospital. Their conditions at this time are unknown.

About 28 other residents were displaced during the fire. While half of them were able to return to their apartments, the other half were provided housing assistance from the Red Cross.

After an investigation, the fire was determined to be caused by arson, causing about $200,000 in damages. No firefighters were injured.

Police arrested 34-year-old George Love at the scene of the apartments on North Linn Street. The apartments are Love's last listed address.

Love will be taken to the Peoria County Jail after he's medically cleared.
