A Manual High School senior died after a shooting early Wednesday morning near the corner of North Linn and West Corrington.

Police spokesperson Semone Roth said officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found a male at the scene with gunshot wounds. Jerry Snipes, 17, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Snipes suffered multiple gunshot wounds and likely died minutes after the incident.

No suspects are currently in custody.

Peoria Public Schools spokesman Thomas Bruch said there are grief and support services for students and staff members at Manual available on Thursday.

Police ask those with information to call detective Robert Allen at 309-494-8367, or CrimeStoppers at 309-673-9000.
