Peoria Police Make Arrest In July 4 North Valley Homicide

Peoria police say they have made an arrest in a July 4 shooting in the Averyville neighborhood that left one man dead and three other people wounded.

According to Sgt. Amy Dotson, Eric Jackson was taken into custody Wednesday in the 4300 block of West Rockwell Road on an outstanding Peoria County warrant and other charges and was taken to Peoria County Jail.

Jackson, 18, was interviewed Friday at the police department in relation to the July 4 shooting and subsequently was arrested on one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, said police. He remains in custody at the county jail.

Michael Anthony Charles Johnson II, 21, died after the North Valley shooting in the 600 block of Haungs Avenue around 11 p.m. on the Fourth of July. Another adult male and two juveniles also suffered gunshot wounds.
