Peoria Fire Chief Tony Ardis is retiring, effective next Friday.
Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich named current assistant chief James Bachman as the next fire chief.
Ardis, the brother of former Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis, became chief in November 2019. He replaced Ed Olehy.
Both Bachman and Ardis began their careers with the Peoria Fire Department in 1994.
