Out and About in Greater Peoria: PeoriaCon, GlobalFest and 80's trivia night

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of March 1 through March 3, 2024, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Calling all comic lovers: PeoriaCon is this weekend at the Peoria Civic Center. Get ready for another great year with comic book, cosplay and gaming convention fun. There will be artists, special guests, comic book dealers, a cosplay contest with best of show cash prizes, games, collectibles and your favorite loot dealers!

Travel around the world: On Saturday, you're invited to “a cultural journey around the world” at GlobalFest 2024, a family-friendly, educational event celebrating diversity in Central Illinois. Guests will get their passports stamped at international ethnic booths, learn unique aspects of different cultures, see traditional costumes, taste international food provided by local ethnic restaurants and enjoy artistic performances from a variety of countries.

Test you 80's knowledge: Ready to bust out your trivia skills? Tomorrow is the 4th Annual Trivia Night hosted by the Stark County Farm Bureau. This event is an annual fundraiser for the local “Ag in the Classroom” program, providing weekly agriculture education to kindergarten through 5th grades students. All trivia is 80’s themes and includes a taco bar, cash bar, best dressed prize and a grand prize for the winning team.

Meagan Ruger-Smith is a sophomore sports communication major at Bradley University, with minors in ethics and journalism. Meagan joined WCBU in 2023.
