Republican Desi Anderson on Tuesday announced a 2024 run against first-term Democratic state Rep. Sharon Chung in an Illinois House district that includes parts of Greater Peoria and Bloomington-Normal.

Preliminary election results show Democratic State Sen. Dave Koehler of Peoria getting close to 58% of the vote in his 46th District race against Republican Desi Anderson.

Democratic incumbent Dave Koehler of Peoria has held the seat since 2006, while Republican challenger Desi Anderson of Carlock is seeking elected office for the first time.
