The POWER Act, an expansive bill to regulate data centers, will not pass the General Assembly this spring, but the bill’s leaders say the measure isn’t dead and negotiations will continue through the summer.

Congressman Eric Sorensen, D-Ill., doesn't want to block data centers from coming to Illinois. He also doesn't want them arriving without conditions. He's worried some data center developers will try to cut corners to get there.

A data center will not be built on Pekin's Lutticken Farms property. That was the message delivered by City Attorney Jim Vasselli after the city received a letter from lawyers for the developers.

The board on Wednesday approved a zoning code amendment that prohibits "any use of land which is not explicitly allowed under the code or as adopted by supplemental ordinance."
