WCBU announces 2023 scholarship winners

In addition to providing a public service to the community, WCBU also gives Bradley University and Illinois State University students an opportunity to learn alongside professional journalists through internships and paid positions.

The WCBU Scholarship is awarded each year to one qualifying student or may be evenly divided among multiple qualified students. The WCBU scholarship is made possible by the Friends of WCBU Fund.

Congratulations to the 2023 WCBU Scholarship winners:

  • Isabela Nieto is a Bradley University junior in the Department of Communication studying journalism, and minoring in sustainability and in Spanish. Isabela is a student journalist in the WCBU newsroom who contributes to audio and digital web stories.
  • Meagan Ruger-Smith is a Bradley University sophomore in the Department of Communication studying sports communication and is minoring in ethics and journalism. At WCBU, Meagan spearheads our social media content featured on Facebook and Instagram, as well as content at WCBU.org. Meagan also voice tracks during NPR’s World Cafe.
