The University of Illinois has a new budget for 2018, and the spending plan holds the line on student tuition.
The Board of Trustees approved the $6.35 billion spending plan Thursday.
Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs Barbara Wilson says the U of I will not increase tuition for the third straight year.
“It’s a commitment to us on behalf of the Illinois families regarding affordability and access, ” Wilson said.
Wilson warned that unpredictable state finances, uncertain federal research funding and increasing pension costs continue to put pressure on future budgets.
