State Representative Dave Severin is among the brand new class of legislators sworn into the 100th General Assembly in Springfield today. He also represents one of six districts that flipped from Democrat to Republican in last November’s election. The businessman from Benton says people in his district are eager for a fresh approach to solve the historic troubles in Springfield.
“They’re waiting, they’re begging for something to be done different. So they’re holding on, social service needs, the people that need those things, they’re there, and we’ve got to help them.”
Severin says he’s ready to work across the aisle to finally pass a budget for Illinois. He defeated longtime Democratic state Representative John Bradley in a bitter, expensive campaign.
