2 Men Accused of Stealing From Illinois Treasurer's Vault

A former employee of the Illinois State Treasurer's office and his friend are accused of stealing jewelry and gold from the agency's unclaimed property vault.  Sangamon County State's Attorney John Milhiser says former employee Roosevelt Smith and Ademola Adeniji face felony theft charges.

Milhiser says the treasurer's office discovered the thefts after upgrading security measures and finding that items had gone missing from 2012 to this year. Smith worked in the treasurer's office for 12 years.
Smith is being held on $500,000 bail and Adeniji was released on bond and is due in court Dec. 29.
