CHICAGO - Social service providers working without pay because of Illinois' budget problems say they don't know the impact of a short-term spending plan that lawmakers approved.
The Pay Now Illinois coalition is suing Gov. Bruce Rauner and state agencies because of fallout from the budget impasse.
Attorneys for the coalition and Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office appeared in court Wednesday. Both sides say they need to revise court filings to reflect budget developments. The coalition intends to add another 17 groups, bringing the total to 99.
Lawmakers approved a stop-gap spending measure last month to cover parts of the previous and current fiscal years.
However, only one coalition provider has been paid.
Coalition spokeswoman Andrea Durbin estimates the coalition is owed at least $161 million.
Both sides are due in court July 25.
