Clinton attacks Trump's "dangerous message" at State Capitol

Hillary Clinton invoked Abraham Lincoln today during a speech at the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

That’s where Lincoln gave his famous “House Divided” address back in 1858.

Clinton – Democrats’ presumptive nominee for president – called Republicans’ choice of Donald Trump alarming. She says it’s a threat to democracy that Lincoln’s former party is becoming the party of Trump.“Donald Trump’s campaign adds up to an ugly, dangerous message to America. A message that you should be afraid – afraid of people whose ethnicity is different, or religious faith is different.”

Clinton called for police and criminal justice reform, as well as for stricter gun control.

She last visited the Old State Capitol for a televised town hall in March, just ahead of Illinois’ primary.  It’s also where President Barack Obama declared his candidacy, in 2007.
