Sister of man who died in custody: 'Hand over ... video'

The sister of a 24-year-old who died in Chicago police custody appealed directly to Mayor Rahm Emanuel to let the family view squad-car video of the 2015 incident.

Janet Godinez says that seeing the video of HeribertoGodinez will help bring closure. She said, "As much as it's going to hurt, we want to see that video." She added, "Rahm Emanuel...hand over that video."

Family attorneys accuse Emanuel of violating a February policy change to release such footage within 60 to 90 days. It came after anger over a year-long delay in releasing video of a white officer shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald.

A Chicago law department statement says the city is implementing the new policy and will release the Godinez and other videos "within the next few months."
